Turku Music Festival: Songs Of Judith
Songs of Judith opens up a secret tradition of female composers and writers imagining what it would be like for women to rebel against their male oppressors. Built around the cantata dedicated to the biblical Judith by Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre (1665-1729), the programme explores the psychological, moral and spiritual significance of revolution through rare baroque and contemporary gems. Conducted by conductor Aliisa Neige Barrière and director-dramaturge Aleksi Barrière, the theatrically staged concert brings together for the first time the musicians of the Nordic Hehku collective with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra.
