The Sibelius Museum is easy to find, located about a kilometre away from the market square and only a few hundred feet away from the Turku Cathedral. The location is calm and cosy, and the museum site is surrounded by the university campus on the one side, and the River Aura on the other.

Good to know & Accessibility

The main entrance is towards Piispankatu and is accessible by a small flight of stairs as well as a ramp slope.

The museum’s exhibitions are in two floors. Ground level exhibitions are accessible, but unfortunately there is no elevator to the underground floor. Therefore, exhibitions on the underground floor are not accessible. There are small stairs as well as a ramp slope to the concert hall.

The ground floor is accessible when moving with wheelchair, rollator or a walking cane. You can access the building also with a pram. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome in the museum.

Sibeliusmuseum is an EU Disability Card location. A personal assistant may enter free of charge.

The museum’s lighting conditions are reduced for the purposes of object preservation.

The toilets are located on the ground floor, to the left from the main entrance. Sibeliusmuseum has an accessible toilet.

You are allowed to carry a bag or a backpack while visiting Sibelius Museum. You can also leave your bags in a locker in the cloak room or behind the front desk.

Arrival

The museum is within walking distance of, for example, Tuomiokirko (about 1 minute), Kauppatori (about 10 minutes). Turku bus station and Kupittaa railway station are located about 1.5 km from the museum, while Turku main railwaystation is about 2 km away. In addition, the Tuomiokirkontori Square long-distance bus stops are about 5 minutes’ walk from the museum. Several local bus lines also stop at Tuomiokirkontori Square bus stops. Sibelius Museum is easy to arrive to by a bicycle. The nearest Föli city bike station is located at the nearby street Porthaninkatu. You can park your own bicycle on the museum’s courtyard.

Paid street parking is available around the museum. The parking spaces in the Sibelius Museum’s courtyard are reserved for the museum’s use, except for the disabled parking space to the left of the main entrance. Please call the museum’s front desk 050 337 6906 if you need a disabled parking space for your car.

Charter buses and taxis can leave their passengers in front of the museum.
