Sibbe Live!: Duo Evening
Harri Sippel, viola, Pasi Helin, piano
Mikhail Glinka, Rebecca Clarke, Fernando Arroyo Lascurain, Robert Schumann
Violist Harri Sippel and pianist Pasi Helin will combine their musical visions in a duo concert on April 19th.
The concert will open with Mikhail Glinka’s unfinished sonata, the first romantic movement of which has established itself as an independent work in the concert programmes of the violists in its lyricism and even in its turbulent dramatic quality.
The Finnish premiere of Novel Voices (2019) by the 36-year-old Mexican-American Fernando Arroyo Lascurain is a reflection of a music project in refugee camps in the Middle East, created to describe the movements of the souls of people in difficult situations.
Perhaps the most impressive small-scale work by English violist and composer Rebecca Clarke, Morpheus transports listeners into the delicate realms of the god of dreams.
Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestücke op. 73 consists of three pieces in which the composer lets his imagination run wild, leading the viola and piano into a complex chamber music dialogue.
