Sunday 19th of February 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the premiere of Jean Sibelius’ 6th Symphony. The original hand-written score was graciously donated to Sibelius Museum by the composer himself in the Autumn of 1955 after Otto Anderson visited him at Ainola. To commemorate its centenary, this score will be made available to the public for a limited time, both physically as well as in the form of a digitalisation that you can freely browse.

The anniversary will be complemented by two celebratory lectures on the day of the anniversary as well as live music at 12.00-13.15

Pianomusic – Jean Sibelius: Suite champêtre pianolle [Op. 98b], Folke Gräsbeck, piano

Lecture – Andrew Barnett: Tolkningar och inspelningar av Sibelius sjätte symfoni (in Swedish)
Lecture – Timo Virtanen: Kuudes sinfonia ja Sibelius vuonna 1923 (in Finnish)

The museum is open 11-16.

Free entrance.
