Julia Elomaa started her piano studies at the Turku Conservatory in 2013 with Jaana Luuppala as her teacher. She received her advanced studies diploma in spring 2021 and was admitted to the Youth Piano Academy in summer 2021.

Julia has participated in numerous masterclasses, including those of Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Henri Sigfridsson, Tony Yike Yang, Severin von Eckardstein, Mackenzie Melemed and Matti Raekallio. In addition to her periods at the Youth Piano Academy, Julia has participated in Nurmes Summer Academy, the Raudaskylän Soiva Kesä music camp and masterclasses by Palazzo Ricci.

Julia has performed as a soloist with the Aura Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Vihti Orchestra. In summer of 2024, Julia performed at the Riihimäki Summer Concerts and the Mänttä Music Festival’s Young Artists concert. In addition, she has performed at several other events and concerts around Finland.

She has been awarded prizes at the Pianoaura Competition in Turku in 2016, 2019 and 2023, the Steinway Piano Competition in Helsinki 2016, the Stockholm International Music Competition 2017, the Tapiola International Piano Competition 2019, the Canada International Piano Competition 2021, the Ilmari Hannikainen Chamber Music Competition 2023, the WPTA Finland Piano Competition 2024, the Debussy International Music Competition 2024 and the Leevi Madetoja Piano Competition 2025. Julia has also received a special mention at the Nordic Junior Piano Competition in Sweden for her interpretation of Matthew Whittall’s “A Noiseless Patient Spider” in 2023.

Turku echoes – Skaalat solmuun festival is taking over the city!

From April 14th to 18th, the spring of Turku is vibrating with musical excitement as the Skaalat solmuun festival brings over 40 free gigs and concerts for all music lovers. The vocational students of Turku conservatory are performing at various locations, including the Turku city theatre lobby, Rica bar, Bar Ö, Turku castle and Sibelius museum.

It will be a musical firework from metal to jazz, classical to prog and pop – something for everyone.
