This chamber music concert will highlight works hidden behind the pseudonyms of female composers from the 1800s and 1900s. Women were often forced to work anonymously or under the cover of a masculine-sounding pseudonym because otherwise they could not get their works published. But women refused to be silenced, even though the norms and expectations of their time tended to limit their musical creativity. Behind these works lie not only great talent, but also stories of courage and perseverance.
