Landæus Trio + Mikko Gunu Karjalainen
The collaboration between Landæus Trio and Mikko Gunu Karjalainen began with a tour of Denmark and Sweden in spring 2022.
The band will play music written by Landæus and Karjalainen for this line-up. The music is dominated by Nordic colourful melodic expression and sensitive communication between the musicians. Swedish pianist Mathias Landæus, who has released 20 solo albums to date, will be joined by Tivoli Jazz Prize-winning drummer Cornelia Nilsson and bassist Johnny Åman, known for Jerry Bergonz’s band, among others. Trumpet player Mikko Gunu Karjalainen is known not only for his soulful and lyrical playing, but also for being an outspoken figure who is active in strengthening the community spirit in the art world, respecting tradition and seeking new things.
